We want Chartwell to be a place where people are embraced and transformed by the life changing love and power of God. We will encourage the practice of spiritual disciplines in order to nourish and cultivate spiritual life. It is our goal to empower people to go deeper in their experience of God the Father through a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
(Gal 5:22; Eph 1:15-22; Phil 3:12-4:1)
We want Chartwell to be a place where people can discover and cultivate deep and life-giving relationships with God and with others— more than just being friendly; being people committed to building deep and lasting friendships. With Christ-like love as our guiding principle, we will strive to create a community that connects people to one another and to Jesus Christ our Creator.
(John 17:20-23; Acts 2:42-47; 1Cor 13; 1 John 2:8-11)
We want Chartwell to make a real and tangible difference in the lives of people in our community and beyond. We will accomplish this by expressing and demonstrating God’s love in ways that appropriately address the material, social, and spiritual needs of people. It is our goal that Oakville will be a better place to live because of the involvement of Chartwell in the life of our city and our world.
(Matt 25:34-40; 1Cor 9:19-23; James 1:27;2:14-18)
We want Chartwell to be a family characterized by humility and service. With Christ as our model, we will apprehend opportunities to serve others as Christ served: sacrificially, generously, without fanfare for the purpose of blessing others. Our service will be fuelled by our commitment to make the name of Jesus greater than the name of our church.
(Prov 22:4; Phil 2:1-11; Col 3:12; James 3:13 )
We want Chartwell to strive at all times and in all circumstances to be approachable and accountable as we carry out our mission and ministry (relationally, morally, and financially). We will uphold truth as we understand it from Scripture and manifested in the person of Jesus Christ. We will pursue truth in our relationships with each other through honesty, accountability, and strong moral character.
(Ps 25:21; Prov 12:17, 22; Prov 19:1; Matt 5:13-16, 37)
God is creative and expressive in His very nature. Therefore, we want to be creative in the expression of our faith. At Chartwell we acknowledge that what “works” today may not work tomorrow. We recognize that it is not enough to be “contemporary”. Rather, we must be anticipatory, forward-focused, and flexible in our approach to what we do and how we do it. We appreciate that while change is difficult, it is vital for growth, both individually and corporately.
(Exodus 35:30-36:1; 1Chronicles 12:32)
